In My Mailbox #55

Instructions for a Broken Heart by Kim Culbertson
*I pre-ordered this awhile back thanks to all my birthday B&N gift cards. I love the premise of this one!
Goodreads says, "Three days before her drama club's trip to Italy, Jessa Gardner discovers her boyfriend in the costume barn with another girl. Jessa is left with a care package from her best friend titled "Top Twenty Reasons He's a Slimy Jerk Bastard," instructing her to do one un-Jessa-like thing each day of the trip. At turns hilarious and heartwrenching, Instructions for a Broken Heart paints a magical Italy in which Jessa learns she must figure out life-and romance-for herself."

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
*I am such a sucker for this series and hopefully I can read it before True Blood comes back on this summer. It will definitely get me excited for the season premiere!
Goodreads says, "With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board."

Firelight by Sophie Jordan
*This one was one sale at B&N and I just had to buy it, especially after reading some great reviews. Plus, I hear that it is going to be made into a movie, too!
Goodreads says, "Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form. Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy. Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide."

  10. I didn't know that Firelight was going to be made into a movie! I really liked it when I read it last year and can't wait for the next book. I just got Dead Reckoning from the library this week. I hope I will like it more than Dead in the Family.

Instructions for a Broken Heart sounds fantastic. I love that it is set in Italy-a place I long to visit. I will have to look for it at the library. I just got Culbertson's Songs for a Teenage Nomad (free download from Kindle) this week.

Great books. I hope you enjoy them.
