August Confessions

Cape May Lighthouse
August is coming to an end and that always means the start of a new school year for me. It seems like just yesterday I was on vacation! Summer always flies by too quickly.  I have had the craziest week back to work.  We had an earthquake on my first day back, a flood in my classroom the next day, and then Hurricane Irene.  Need I say more? On the bright side, my favorite place, the Jersey shore, survived Hurricane Irene; I am sososososo thankful.

As much as I love summer and I am sad to see it go, I must admit that there are many things that I love about fall.....pumpkin, anyone?

Books Read In August:

1.  Insatiable by Meg Cabot
2.  Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
3.  Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg
4.  Instructions for a Broken Heart by Kim Culbertson
5.  A Brief History of Montmaray by Michelle Cooper
6.  Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
7.  Withering Tights by Louise Rennison
8.  Abandon by Meg Cabot
9.  Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey (review to come)
10.  Overbite by Meg Cabot

August Top Five:

1.  Favorite Book: Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins- Although I didn't love this one as much as Anna and the French Kiss, I really enjoyed it.  Perkins is so very talented.

2.  Biggest Surprise:  Insatiable by Meg Cabot- This was the first book that I read by Cabot and I was impressed by her writing style and her witty dialogue.

3.  Biggest Letdown:  Instructions for a Broken Heart by Kim Culbertson- I wanted a bit more Italy and a bit less whining from the main character.

4.  Favorite Post:  My review of Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

5.  Favorite Part of August: My many weekend trips to the beach.

**Don't forget to check out my giveaway for Withering Tights by Louise Rennison.

Good luck!

  1. I am glad you made it through such a traumatic week! What a way to start the school year!

I am really sad that summer is over because I am never able to enjoy fall anymore. I can't help but think about winter and all the worries it brings...I do enjoy apple cider though :)

  2. Now that was a very dramatic start to a new school year. I hope every one you know and love were spared from the destruction.

If I'm ever going to travel to the US I would love to see "your" shore. It looks so nice. What's stopping me you might ask? I'm a bit scared of flying(I'm embarrassed to admit that, I know it's more dangerous to drive in my car every day than to take a flight).

  7. Glad you enjoyed Lola! It wasn't the awesome read that Anna was for me, but definitely agree: Perkins is a talented author!

  8. Wow, you did have quite an eventful first day back!

I'm glad summer is almost over. I love Fall!! The weather gets cooler, the colors are beautiful, it's not as hot and the holidays are coming. I love Thanksgiving!

I still need to read Anna. I've heard great things about that book, I hope it lives up to the hype.

Oh no! Instructions for a Broken Heart was a letdown? I wanted to read that one. I don't like whining...
