11/22/63 by Stephen King
Pub. Date: November 8, 2011
Goodreads says, "November 22nd, 1963 was a rapid-fire sequence of indelible moments: Shots ring out; a president slumped over; a race to the Dallas hospital; an announcement, blood still fresh on the First Lady's dress. But what if President John F. Kennedy didn't have to die; if somehow his assassin could have been thwarted? For Maine schoolteacher Jake Epping, those hypothetical what if's become real possibilities when he walks through a portal to the past. Without special skills and still unfamiliar with his new/old surroundings, he struggles to discover a way to change the history he left."
*First of all, I will admit that I am not the biggest Stephen King fan; however, the premise for his latest novel, 11/22/63, really intrigues me. I think the whole idea of "what if" especially in regards to John F. Kennedy is extremely fascinating and in combination with time travel, it sounds like a must read for me. I've always wondered, especially recently, what the world would be like if JFK didn't die?
I am excited for this one too. I haven't read any of Stephen King's books and this will be my first. It doesn't sound like what he usually writes and I think that it sounds really promising. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting premise! I don't think I've ever read anything by Stephen King before.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WoW here!
Can you believe I haven't read any books by Stephen King!? *gasp*

Great pick! I love the premise of this one too.
ReplyDeleteI used to read lots and lots of Stephen King as a teen but I haven't read anything by him in quite a while now.
I haven't read many Stephen King books. In fact, I think I've only read The Shining and that was for school:) I tried to make it through Dreamcatcher but got grossed out and couldn't continue. Love the premise of this one though, and King is such a great storyteller even if the stories he usually tells freak me out, so I'm sure it will be fascinating:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great pick for WoW. I'm interested to see what Stephen King does with a what if scenario especially with such a big historical event! Love it!
ReplyDeleteStephen King is such a great writer. I have only read two of his books, I need to read more lol. Great pick. =]

Fascinating concept. Cool choice. I hadn't heard of this one yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge King fan either, but I'm dying to read this. We don't have to wait very long!!
ReplyDeleteI don't review it, but I love Stephen King! I can't keep up with all of his books (dang, he can write fast!), but this sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteOkay, everyone who hasn't read a Stephen King book, your assignment is to go buy a copy of The Stand and read it. lol
My WoW this week
I have never finished a Stephen King read. I get scared too easily.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my WoW pick, guys and thanks for all of the King suggestions!
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree - really neat concept. I'm not a huge King fan either, but I might have to try this one!

ReplyDeleteSo excited for this one! I like the off Stephen King book but it seems he's going in a bit of a different route for this one. Should be interesting!
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY intrigued! I've seen other others tackle the "what if JFK didn't die" question, but man, I'm excited King is taking it on! While I may not like all his books, I definitely appreciate this man's imagination!
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
