Obviously, books are important to me and I have been trying to read as many as I can with my son, Dylan. This past fall and winter I shared with you some of the baby books I have been reading with him. I thought I would give you an update!
My little guy had a big birthday on the 27th! We celebrated his 1st birthday! I still can't believe it. I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some new books that he has recently added to his bookshelf. Also, I am sharing a few books that I found at my childhood house and knew immediately that he must have them for his library.
The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg- Dylan received this one for Christmas. I was so excited to re-read it with him and experience the magic all over again.
Very Hairy Bear by Alice Schertle and Illustrated by Matt Phelan - This book describes the seasons and how the bear enjoys them except in the winter, he takes a long nap. The illustrates are so adorable and Dylan's copy is signed by the illustrator thanks to his Nana.
Here are some books from my childhood:
The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks - This was a favorite of mine when I was a child. I think Dylan will love it!
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein - In my opinion, this book of poetry is a must have for any child. It was definitely a favorite of mine and I am glad I can pass my copy along to my son.
What do you think of Dylan's ever-growing library? Which books are favorites from your childhood? Let me know in the comments below.
This is a wonderful book collection for your little boy. I wish I saved my books from my childhood. A couple of years ago, I bought my son The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein - a must, if I may say so myself.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday to your little boy!
Thank you! I can't wait to read The Giving Tree with my little guy. I will have to buy him a new copy b/c I don't know where mine went. Thanks for the kind thoughts and for dropping by!
DeleteI love children's lit. My daughters, 25 and 21, always talk about the books I read to them as children. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Thanks, Anne! I definitely plan on continuing it. It's good to hear your daughters appreciated it. :)
DeleteSuch a great list of books! I absolutely loved Strega Nona when I was a kid, I think that's one of my favourites on this list :) I have a collection of Robert Munsch books that I plan to pass down when I have kids. Happy Birthday to your little one! Hopefully he cherishes these books as well!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I still love that book. Thanks, Andrea! :)
DeleteHappy Birthday Dylan!
ReplyDeleteI never read Strega Nona but my mom loves reading it to her students. I loved Shel Silverstein as a kid too. I hope Dylan will enjoy it as much as you did.
Thanks so much, Christina! :)
