This week's Top Ten Tuesday focuses on our auto-buy authors, meaning the authors whose books I buy immediately or pre-order without even looking at the novel's synopsis. No matter what these authors write, I will read it! Next to each author's name, I included my favorite novel by the author and a link to my review.
1. Jenny Han - The Summer I Turned Pretty
2. Sarah Dessen - The Truth About Forever
3. Philippa Gregory - The White Queen
4. Beatriz Williams - A Hundred Summers
5. Stephanie Perkins - Anna and the French Kiss
6. Emery Lord - The Start of Me and You
7. J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter series, obviously.
8. Cynthia Hand - Unearthly
9. Cassandra Clare - Clockwork Angel
10. John Green - The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska
Who are some of your auto-buy authors? Let me know what you think in the comments below. This meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

Yes to lots of these - especially your contemp picks! I would add Morgan Matson and (probably) Gayle Forman to my list (I didn't love her last one, hence the probably!)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Gayle Forman's latest read, but she is one of my favorites as well. Good call! I hope you are enjoying your blogging break! Thanks for visiting, Leanna!
DeleteI still need to read something by John Green and Sarah Dessen. I can't believe I haven't Christina! Emery Lord is 100% on my list of auto-buy authors as well though, I couldn't have loved her first two books more:)
ReplyDeleteOMG! I hope you can read both authors immediately. They are fantastic! I loved Lord's first two books as well...she's the best. Thanks for visiting, Jenny!
DeleteBefore anything else, let me just say how pretty all these authors are! Yay for JKR and John Green- they made it to my list as well. I'm yet to read books by some others up there, but I'll get to them soon.
ReplyDeleteLovely post! Here's mine. Happy reading!
Sarika @ The Readdicts
I know, right?! Thanks for visiting, Sarika!
DeleteI'm just now starting to read some of these on your list. Except of course for JKR whose books are long-time favorites :) My TTT
ReplyDeleteJKR is definitely a long-time favorite. I bought her adult novel, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for visiting, Carrie!
DeleteThis is a great list, Christina! I actually really like this topic and, had I been able to get it together, I thought about creating a post for this one. Mine would definitely include Jane Green, Jennifer Weiner, John Irving, J. K. Rowling and Anne Lamott. Hope you're having a great day!!
ReplyDeleteJane Green is definitely one of my favorite authors to read in the summer! Thanks for visiting, Tara!
DeleteGreat list!! I included John Green and Stephanie Perkins this week as well. I also love Cassandra Clare and Sarah Dessen, but I ran out of spots. I'm finishing the final Harry Potter book at the moment, but I'm not sure about some of J.K. Rowlings non Harry Potter books. I will probably give them a try eventually.
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT: http://www.jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2015/08/top-ten-tuesday-my-auto-buy-authors.html
I bought JK's adult novel, but I am not sure about it either. I'm sure I will give it a try. Thanks for visiting, Jacque!
DeleteJ.K. Rowling was an auto buy author until she wrote The Casual Vacancy. I think I'll stick to her books for youth. I would auto buy many of the authors on your list for my library's teen collection but for my personal reading I buy few books. Mostly I put them on hold at the library.
ReplyDeleteMy auto buy list includes Rick Riordan, Rae Carson and Marissa Meyer. My auto holds list would include Sarah Dessen, Morgan Matson, Emery Lord, Lauren Willig, Deanna Raybourn and Susanna Kearsley.
I bought the Casual Vacancy, but have yet to read it. We have some of the same picks for auto-buy authors. I read my first Kearsley and loved it this year. I'm sure if I read more of her novels, she would make my list! Thanks for visiting, Christina!
DeleteSuch a great list! We have one in common, too! :D Cynthia Hand--I loved her Unearthly series, but when she blew me away with Last Time We Say Goodbye (when I almost never read contemp books) I was like, "This woman can do anything!" LOL JK Rowling, yes, that's an obvious auto-buy for me too, except for her adult stuff. I hope she comes out with more kids books someday!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I completely agree about Cynthia Hand. I hope JK comes out with more young adult novels some day too. Fingers crossed! Thanks for visiting, Becky!
