Spotlight on Beaks and Geeks and a Giveaway

I don't know about you guys, but I love a good podcast for when I am exercising, for long car trips or to simply unwind. I am always on the hunt for a new podcast and thanks to Brightly and Penguin Random House, I recently found a podcast for fellow book nerds called Beaks and Geeks.

The podcast Beaks and Geeks is a weekly podcast which features conversations with authors.  I loved going through their backlist and checking out the episodes with Sabaa Tahir (author of An Ember in the Ashes),  Andy Weir (author of the hugely popular The Martian), and Jodi Picoult.   I also enjoyed checking out the Best of Beaks and Geeks episode featuring writing tips and book raves.

Recently Beaks and Geeks celebrated their 100th episode featuring Irvine Welsh, author of A Decent Ride. What I like best about this podcast is hearing from various authors and their experiences as well as insights into the publishing process.  It's like listening in on a relaxed conversation as opposed to a stuffy interview. The authors also share tidbits about their life, which makes the podcast feel like a fun conversation with a longtime friend.

Are you interested in checking out Beaks and Geeks? You can access previous episodes for free on SoundCloud or iTunes.  You can also follow them on Twitter for the latest updates.

Thanks to Penguin Random House and Beaks and Geeks,  I am hosting a giveaway for one of the books and authors featured in their episodes.  The book is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, which is a very popular YA book. The reviews for it have been awesome; in fact, there's already plans for a sequel and Paramount Pictures has optioned the film rights. So, if you haven't read it yet, now is your chance! The giveaway is open to US readers only and the deadline is March 14th.  Please refer to my giveaway rules and good luck!

  1. I can honestly say I've never listened to a podcast Christina. How much do I fail? This sounds like one that's right up my alley though, so thanks for the info! Definitely have to check it out:)

  2. I don't utilize a lot of podcasts either, but these look really good and up my alley. I would be curious about the Fiona Barton one, her new book just came out and is supposed to be very good. Thanks for the info!
