The Book of Summer by Michelle Gable
Pub. Date: May 9, 2017
Goodreads says, "Physician Bess Codman has returned to her family's Nantucket compound, Cliff House, for the first time in four years. Her great-grandparents built Cliff House almost a century before, but due to erosion, the once-grand home will soon fall into the sea. Though she s purposefully avoided the island, Bess must now pack up the house and deal with her mother, a notorious town rabble-rouser, who refuses to leave. The Book of Summer unravels the power and secrets of Cliff House as told through the voices of Ruby Packard, a bright-eyed and idealistic newlywed on the eve of WWII, the home's definitive guestbook, and Bess herself. Bess's grandmother always said it was a house of women, and by the very last day of the very last summer at Cliff House, Bess will understand the truth of her grandmother s words in ways she never contemplated. "
You guys know that once spring is right around the corner, I am on the hunt for my next favorite beach read. How fabulous does this one sound? Nantucket, a beach house, family secrets, and it sounds like there will be a parallel storyline or flashbacks involving WWII. It sounds like my kind of beach read. I also LOVE the cover. What do you guys think?
This does sound pretty good and I love the cover too. The WWII part is especially appealing for me. Good pick!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I love that WWII will be incorporated. Thanks for visiting, Christina!
DeleteThe cover drew me in, too, but the description made me add it to my TBR! Sounds perfect <3
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm glad you agree. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteThis one is new to me! I'm so bad with parallel stories within one book - it always happens that I dislike one of the storylines and want to read only the other. I am an odd reader. :D I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week, Christina. =)
Check out my WoW post!
Yes, that happens to me from time to time as well. I am hoping that isn't the case here. Thanks for visiting, Alyssa, and I hope you have a great week as well.
DeleteIs there any better location than Nantucket for the perfect beach read? This sounds good!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I am all about that. Thanks for visiting, Joy!
DeleteChristina, you always find the beachiest looking reads with interesting historical twists to them! Thanks for sharing this one!
