I am so, so excited for June, but I want these warm months to slow down, please! Summer seems to always fly by.
Books Read in May:
1. The Husband Hour by Jamie Brenner (Adult Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
2. Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett (YA Realistic Fiction) - 4.5 out of 5 stars
3. August and Everything After by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski (YA Realistic Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
4. The Summer Sail by Wendy Francis (Adult Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
5. Written in My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon (Adult Historical Fiction) 4.5 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
6. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren (Adult Fiction/Romance) 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
7. Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch (YA Realistic Fiction) 3.5 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
1. Favorite Book: It's a tie between Written in My Own Heart's Blood and Starry Eyes. I really enjoyed both. Written in My Own Heart's Blood exceeded my expectations and Starry Eyes definitely put Jenn Bennett on my radar as a favorite-new-to-me author.
2. Biggest Disappointment: August and Everything After was a decent beach read, but I was hoping to enjoy it so much more than I did. I love Doktorski's last novel, so this one sort of fell short for me.
3. Biggest Surprise: Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren took me by surprise. I have never (surprisingly!) read a Christina Lauren novel, but was pleasantly surprised by this one. I definitely want to read more of her novels in the future.
4. Favorite Post: Into to my 7th Annual Summer Kickoff Feature

5. Favorite Part of May: Even though I didn't make it to the beach this past Memorial Day weekend due to rainy weather, I still had fun with my family and stayed local. We explored some local spots, went hiking, played in the sprinkler, did some gardening, went to the mall, got ice cream, took a trip to the zoo, and had a blast!
What books did you guys read in May? Which ones were your favorites? Let me know in the comments. Happy Friday!
It sounds like you had a busy Memorial Day. I sat around watching TV and eating hot dogs. Your seems like a lot more fun. Have a great June!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks, AJ. It was definitely busy - although I'd rather be at the beach. Hot dogs and TV sounds pretty great right about now. ;) Thanks for visiting!
DeleteYes, May went so fast, I can't believe it's June already! I'm rereading Outlander now, so looking forward to your review on Written in My Own Heart's Blood.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! I want to re-read Outlander as well....definitely need to find the time to do so. Written in My Own Heart's Blood was fantastic, btw. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteLooks like you read some terrific books, is it me or does it always seem to rain on Memorial Day? I hope you enjoy your summer and have many great reads!!

I know! I was so bummed that we were expecting such crappy weather on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you! I hope you can read some fantastic books as well. Thanks for visiting, Joann.
