I always gravitate towards more thrillers in the winter, so I have added a few to my list along with some exciting new historical reads. There's a lot of books on my January TBR list and I probably won't get to them all, but a girl can dream, right? Let me know what you think!
1. Our Kind of People by Carol Wallace
I love reading about NYC's Gilded Age, which I think is such a fascinating time period.
2. Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins
I really enjoyed reading thrillers when it's cold out and I liked The Wife Upstairs when I read it last winter. This novel is being described as a Gothic suspense; plus, it takes place on a Pacific Island!
3. Violeta by Isabel Allende
There's been a lot of buzz for this sweeping historical novel that spans many years. I have heard great things about Allende's writing, but haven't read any of her work, so I am looking forward to reading this novel!
4. The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis
Fans of historical fiction can't go wrong with Davis. Her latest novel is about a famous NYC Gilded Age mansion and the secrets within.
5. Hotel Portofino by J.P. O'Connell
I hear this book is perfect for fans of Downton Abbey. It takes place on the Italian Rivera and will be a show on PBS in 2022.
6. The Siren of Sussex by Mimi Matthews
Matthews has a new series called Belles of London and it takes place in Victorian High Society. Yes, please! I love a good historical rom-com mash up.
7. Verity by Colleen Hoover
Somehow I have never read this much-talked about novel. I recently received it for review, so I can't wait to start this psychological thriller everyone seems to love.
8. The Last Dance of the Debutante by Julia Kelly
I have really enjoyed Kelly's novels in the past, so I have high hopes for this one; however, I just read a novel on the last debutantes presented to Queen Elizabeth II, so I hope Kelly brings something new to the topic.
What books do you hope to read this month? Let me know in the comments below.
Verity was such a great read, and I've preordered Fiona Davis' new book and can't wait to read it! Also just added three of these to my TBR, so yeah, there's that!
ReplyDeleteI love that we have the same taste in books! I am definitely looking forward to Magnolia Palace. I have read some early reviews for it that were outstanding. Thanks for visiting, Angela!
